Michael DeChant is an award winning producer, director, and editor based in the Washington, D.C. metro region. He has worked in all facets of the film and video business and specializes in leading successful delivery of projects of all lengths and formats from concept to completion. He has produced and directed short and long form documentaries, television and web commercials, corporate and non-profit videos, music videos, and interactive media. |

Recently he served as a producer for Third Story Films and director Jolyon Hoff on three music videos for D.C. based band, Thievery Corporation. The videos "Sweet Tides", "Radio Retaliation", and "The Numbers Game" were created to promote the recent album, “Radio Retaliation.” He has directed five short films, two music videos, and numerous corporate and industrial videos. In 2006 he teamed up with his friend and colleague, Doug Gritzmacher, to create the production company, Double Six Productions. They are currently in post production of their first feature length documentary film, "Soldiers of Paint". Their previous collaboration, "Bone Mixers" (2006), A documentary short about a group of D.C. area domino players, screened in eight film festivals across the country - winning four festival awards and a Sophia Neel Kountz Award for excellence in documentary filmmaking. Additionally, Michael is an accomplished moving and still image photographer and his background in graphic and web design has continued to aid him in the ever converging creative digital environment. Michael earned is MFA in Film and Media Arts from American University in Washington, D.C. and studied advertising and photography at Loyola University Maryland. |
